How deposits work
Every listing shows its exact refundable deposit, and the full amount is confirmed before you check out. Deposits are held by Sebenza — never paid to the supplier.
Step 1 · At checkout
Hold placed
The deposit is authorised on your card, not charged. It shows as pending and stays with Sebenza, never the supplier.
Step 2 · For the rental period
Hold maintained
The authorisation is refreshed every 7 days on long rentals so it never lapses mid-job.
Step 3 · Within 48h of return
Capture (only if needed)
Damage, loss or a late return is captured from the hold after the supplier's return check, itemised on your invoice. Late returns cost 25% of the daily rate per late day.
Step 4 · Within 24h of a clean return
Release
The remaining hold is released automatically. Your bank can take a further 3–5 working days to clear it back.
